Indian Creek is a village in Vernon Township, Lake County, Illinois, United States. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Per the 2020 census, the population was 536. Police services are provided by Lake County Sheriff and fire/EMS services by the Countryside Fire Protection District.

Indian Creek was originally incorporated in 1958 as a response to the threat of annexation by neighboring Vernon Hills.

This location may be confused with the Indian Creek Massacre, detailed below, which actually occurred in LaSalle County near Ottawa, IL. During the Black Hawk War of 1832, which was the last Indian war in Illinois, Indian Creek, was the scene of an attack, by a renegade band of 40-80 Potawatomi and Sauk, on the Davis Settlement, where 15 white settlers were killed and scalped.

Hoffman Estates is a village in Illinois, United States. The village is located in Cook County. It is a suburb of Chicago. Per the 2020 census, the population was 52,530.

The village now serves as the headquarters for Sears and one of the American headquarters for Mori Seiki. Now Arena, home of the Windy City Bulls of the NBA G League is part of the village.

Between 2006 and 2009, the village hosted the Heartland International Tattoo, one of the largest music and dance festivals of its kind in the Midwest.

The village once had a small section in Kane County that was removed from the village in 2022, making it entirely within Cook County.

Highwood is a North Shore suburb of Chicago in Moraine Township, Lake County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 5,074. It is known for its entertainment, restaurants, bars, and festivals.

Highwood is located in southeastern Lake County at 42°12′19″N 87°48′44″W, on a ridge 100 feet (30 m) above the elevation of Lake Michigan.

According to the 2010 census, Highwood has a total area of 0.71 square miles (1.84 km2), all land.

The city is located next to Highland Park and Fort Sheridan, and south of the Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve.

A traveler in the area in 1833 described visiting a village of bark-covered structures where he ate roasted corn with a chief named Nic-sa-mah at a site likely located south of present-day Clavey Road and east of the Edens Expressway.

In 1847, two German immigrants, John Hettinger and John Peterman founded a town along Lake Michigan, which they called St. John's. Soon, the town was abandoned, due to questions regarding ownership of the land. Three years later, another German Immigrant, Jacob Clinton Bloom, founded Port Clinton, which happened to be just south of St. John's.
